Who I am

I moved from Daegu in 2015 and have lived since then in a fourth-floor walk-up in Huam-dong, on the south side of Namsan. I walk some version of the hill several times a week, usually the Huam-dong path, occasionally the long way round from Itaewon when I want the sunset on the way back down.

What I mostly have is a decade of watching the same queue form at the cable car station every Saturday. The three-minute ride is popular, and there is also a ₩1,100 bus that runs every seven to ten minutes and stops closer to the tower. The thing this site is actually about

It depends on the day. The summit plaza, the love-lock terraces, the Palgakjeong pavilion area and every viewpoint outside the paid levels are free and open to anyone who gets up the hill. What admission buys is roughly 130 metres of extra height behind glass. On a clear evening that is money well spent. On one of Seoul’s hazy, fine-dust days the glass reflects the interior lighting, the distance you paid for is not there, and the free terrace you walked past on the way in is the better view. How I write about the tours

Ratings, review counts and prices come straight from GetYourGuide and are not rounded or tidied.
